Urgent and important
If you’ve got a huge to-do list and you don’t know where to start, begin by labelling each task: unimportant/important and urgent/non-urgent. Start by doing urgent and important tasks and work your way through, leaving unimportant/not-urgent tasks till last or choosing to remove them completely.
Identifying urgent tasks is fairly easy. They either have an upcoming completion date, or you know that things will start to fall apart if they’re not done ASAP.
It’s harder to identify important/not-important tasks. Clients often struggle with this and the tendancy is to believe that they are all important. If this is you, you could try ordering them from the most to the least important, which will allow you to see things more clearly.
